Slow Dining - Dinner Parties by Kelly

Kelly is hosting her dinner parties again this summer. Let her know if you're interested at kellystanphill@yahoo.com. She is an excellent cook!

Message from Kelly:

Happy Almost Summer!

So, I really want to get back into the party biz....but only for my single friends. And, since I love to cook............I've decided on a new format:

Sit down dinners in my backyard (in Santa Monica), for 24 people: 12 men, 12 women, 4 tables, 4 courses. (This requires a bit of math, not my strong suit!): 3 women at each table. Women stay put, men move to the other tables per course. Whew, took me a while to figure that one out!

Sort of like Speed Dating...but the opposite: Slow Dining.

I will need to charge $30 plus a bottle of wine to compliment the menu (which I will soon figure out). The $30 will cover the food, the furniture rentals, decor, cleaning, etc.

Since I have a tiny kitchen and I am one person, I will need two helpers (one guy, one girl) to: serve, plate the food, make sure the candles are lit, the tables are clean, etc. (Helpers are free of course.)

The first hour (or so).... will be spent having a signature cocktail, wine or beer, or other beverage, while I slave in the kitchen. :-) (But I love that so don't worry about me!)

Then you'll sit down for the four courses: appetizer, salad, entree and dessert.

Then another hour or two for post dinner cocktails, and fun.................

Before I go ahead and plan this I need to know if this is something that anyone would even be interested in? If so my first party will be Saturday, July 11.

Please let me know if this sounds like a good idea, a bad idea, or a super good idea and I'll end up on Oprah soon.

(Also, my LA Supper Club email list is hopelessly out of date so I am going to start with a fresh list, which will frankly, be the most time consuming part of this project. Please spread the word, help me build up my list again, let me know if you want off the list, or want to add someone to the list. (Age range: mid-30s-40s-early 50s). ISH. With this type of dinner party, I really want to have a good mix of people to make the dinner a success.)

Cheers,

Kelly
